New research by Samsung UK has revealed attitudes to hidden and visible disabilities in the workplace.

The findings show that weโ€™re a nation uncomfortable talking about disabilities, with nearly half of the population (45%) admitting to not feeling comfortable saying the word โ€˜disabledโ€™ or โ€˜disabilityโ€™ in everyday conversations, creating a feeling of taboo about a condition that affects 14 million people[1] in the UK.


Hospitals, schools, libraries, museums and leisure centres across England are among hundreds of public buildings that will cut their use of expensive fossil fuels and save millions of pounds on bills, thanks to ยฃ553 million in government funding for affordable, low carbon heating and energy efficiency upgrades.

These upgraded heating systems, powered by cleaner, cheaper, renewable energy, will reduce the use of fossil fuels exposed to volatile global energy prices, support thousands of jobs, and also save taxpayers money as these measures will ensure public buildings are cheaper to heat. Local authorities, public bodies and taxpayers are expected to save an average of ยฃ650 million per year on energy bills over the next 15 years.


In recruitment, Keysource has launched a new specialist service designed to help organisations that are struggling to recruit candidates with the right experience.

It has been designed to help address the current skills shortage across the datacentre, pharmaceutical and wider technology sectors, which is also making it challenging to retain people, often resulting in a lack of consistency and momentum for major transformation strategies, programmes and projects.


In Contracts, Portfolio, a cleaning and hygiene service by Churchill Group, has won a three-year contract with law firm Penningtons Manches Cooper.

The contract commenced on 1st April and includes cleaning and hygiene services, feminine washroom services, window cleaning and consumables. Portfolio employees will work on the contract at seven Penningtons Manches Cooper sites โ€“ London, Basingstoke, Birmingham, Cambridge, Guildford, Oxford and Reading.
