Bouygues Energies & Services, the global leader in energy, digital and industrial transformation, strongly believes in the power of giving back to the communities that have supported them throughout their journey. The following is a heart-warming first-hand example of how its dedicated team has taken the initiative to make a positive impact in Newport, near it data centre project.
Recently, Jamie-Lee, Ian and Matty from Bouygues took the opportunity to collaborate with the Growing Space organisation to create something truly special – compost sheds! These sheds were constructed using repurposed wood from the date centre project; they represent the company’s commitment to sustainability and environmental consciousness.
The idea of contributing to the National Trust’s conservation efforts and Growing Space mission to foster green spaces that inspire growth and connection resonated deeply with Bouygues’ team. They recognised that such initiatives not only benefit the community but also align with their own core values as a company.
Jamie Lee Corcoran, Document Controller at Bouygues Energies & Services explains what motivated her and the team to volunteer at Growing Space,
“By taking leftover wood, we have been able to design and build these repurposed compost bins and give back to our local community. Growing Spaces do amazing work and help those in and around the neighbourhood. These compost bins will allow Growing Spaces to continue the great work they do”.
To enable its employees to actively participate in such meaningful projects, Bouygues introduced its volunteering programme. This initiative empowers the company’s team members to use their skills, expertise, and time to make a difference beyond the workplace. By providing them with designated volunteering days, Bouygues aims to foster a culture of giving back and community engagement.
The compost sheds project stands as a testament to the passion and dedication of Bouygues’ team. It showcases how a group of individuals, driven by a shared vision, can come together to create something transformative. The sheds will not only support the National Trust’s conservation efforts but also serve as practical resources for Growing Space to nurture a green and sustainable environment.
Bouygues states that it couldn’t be prouder of its employees for their commitment to improving the world around us. Their initiative and hard work embody the spirit of Bouygues Energies & Services and everything they stand for.
Bouygues says it will continue to support and encourage its team members to engage in initiatives that contribute positively to their local community. Together, we can make a lasting difference and create a brighter, greener future.
