ASFP launches new Gateway 2 Group ‘G2G’

At the ASFP Contractor Technical Group (December 2024), the association launched its new Gateway 2 Group ‘G2G’ in support of the challenges presented to the passive fire industry in terms of Gateway 2 applications and feedback from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

The aim of the group is to identify where further support for applicants can be given by way of what to do, or, what not to do in terms of making an application. Solutions could include a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) page on the ASFP (or hopefully the HSE) website, plus, examples of previous, successful, applications and what not to do when making an application. ASFP will also be the representative conduit between the passive fire industry and those operating the Gateway 2 website and application portal, plus HSE themselves.

The ASFP will look to engage with HSE and offer recommendations on how the application and review processes can be improved and made more efficient.

Mike Ward (ASFP’s Managing Director) said;

“We welcome this new group as the association had been receiving feedback from members on some of the challenges the new Gateway 2 system was presenting.  The ASFP support the new gateway processes to facilitate the very much needed changes to how buildings are designed and constructed. In short, we should be designing then building, not building as we design.

We also welcome open and constructive dialogue between the ASFP and HSE on how the association can improve the transition into the new gateway systems. It is in everyone’s interest that we make these protocols as workable as possible without watering down the required outcomes for safer buildings.”
