A routine compliance visit became a life-saving mission for a water engineer from Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) after a dramatic turn of events at a client facility.
Peter Gallagher, a water hygiene engineer with TEC – part of PTSG – was carrying out scheduled monitoring checks when a member of the public suddenly collapsed nearby. The man was unresponsive, not breathing, and had no detectable pulse.
Drawing on his first aid training, Gallagher acted immediately. He secured the man’s airway and began CPR – a response which likely saved the individual’s life. The man regained consciousness before paramedics arrived on the scene.
From Technical Compliance to Critical Care
While PTSG’s core service is safeguarding buildings and systems through specialist services, Gallagher’s response highlights the broader impact that well-trained professionals can have, especially when faced with high-pressure situations.
“This was the first time I’ve had to use my first aid training in a real emergency,” said Gallagher. “I didn’t think – I just acted.”
A former SIA-certified door supervisor, Gallagher joined TEC over a year ago and has built a strong reputation for professionalism and attention to detail in his work across client sites. His intervention reinforces the importance of cross-functional training in sectors where safety and compliance are paramount.
Training and Readiness Save Lives
“This incident reminds us all of the value of equipping teams not just with technical know-how, but with life-saving skills,” said a spokesperson for PTSG. “Peter’s actions reflect the calibre of individuals we’re proud to have representing our business.”
PTSG provides specialist services across five divisions nationwide, with a growing reputation for technical excellence and service integrity. While Peter Gallagher’s role focuses on water system monitoring and compliance, his quick-thinking intervention illustrates how the Group’s people are prepared to respond when it matters most.
