Mitie shifts up a gear with Toyota IFM contract extension

Mitie, the UK’s leading facilities transformation company, has secured an extension to its integrated facilities management contract with Toyota Motor Manufacturing (Toyota). Under the renewed agreement, Mitie will deliver a comprehensive range of services at Toyota’s Derbyshire vehicle manufacturing plant, including engineering maintenance, specialist production support, cleaning & hygiene services, and landscaping.

Mitie will continue its specialist maintenance of the infrastructure across the 235-hectare site, covering air handling and ventilation, electrical and mechanical maintenance and the repair of metal stillages used to carry car parts to the production line. Mitie’s expertise in industrial cleaning will also maintain a pristine factory environment, supporting Toyota’s commitment to premium product quality.

Since the start of the partnership in 2019, Mitie has helped to ensure seamless operations at one of the UK’s largest manufacturing sites. The production support team will also maintain vehicle transport equipment and manage deliveries to keep Toyota’s manufacturing process running smoothly.

The Mitie team is making full use of the latest in FM planning technology with the cleaning team adopting Merlin Connect, an advanced cleaning intelligence platform which harnesses real-time data and predictive insights to optimise workflows, enhance efficiency, and ensure consistently high standards across facilities. Similarly, the engineering teams are using an AI scheduling tool, called “Optimiser”, to ensure jobs are correctly prioritised based on production line urgency.

Mitie will also support Toyota’s commitment to reduce energy use and minimise water use. Since the start the partnership, Mitie has helped reduce domestic water on-site, through initiatives such as installing microbiological systems to reduce water flow in toilets.

Andrew Thompson, Managing Director, Technical Services, Mitie, said: “We are proud to extend our partnership with Toyota, supporting a major player in British manufacturing. Over the past six years, we have built a strong and trusted relationship together, and we look forward to continuing our support to help keep production run safely, efficiently, and sustainably.”

A spokesperson from Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK, said: “We appreciate Mitie’s proactive approach to innovation and sustainability, which aligns well with our long-term goals. We’re pleased to continue working together to drive further efficiencies.”
