DDC celebrates 20 years of service – Supporting the facilities management sector

Due Diligence Checking (DDC) is celebrating 20 years in business. The online DBS & Pre-employment screening provider has been supporting the FM industry throughout the last 20 years with core background screening requirements.

DDC has seen significant growth within the sector recently with the increasing requirement for compliant Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), required for contractors working on or accessing Government assets. DDC’s online platform enables organisations with remote workforces to background check employees and contractors compliantly and efficiently.

Our history

Following the introduction of the CRB in 2002, now known as the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), DDC was originally founded to support schools, care providers and local businesses that were all in need of checks. In 2009 DDC became one of the first Umbrella Bodies to become approved by the DBS to submit online checks.  This was a significant milestone that enabled clients to submit checks quickly and efficiently, and for applicants to enjoy a fully online experience.

As the business continued to expand Jonathan Bazely joined to manage the Customer Service Team and act as a central contact for major clients. After a period of exceptional growth with some of the leading FM organisations partnering with DDC, Matthew Tuckey also joined taking lead of the sales and marketing team. Both Matthew and Jonathan are now Directors of the business with a team of 35 employees.

The future for DDC

In response to client requests, DDC introduced a new range of services in 2017, these included: employment references, right to work checks, qualification and professional membership. Now in its 20th year of business, DDC provide an all-encompassing pre-employment screening platform offering an array of over 12 background checks including complaint BPSS screening. So far, they have helped 26,595 clients and have delivered 1,628,677 pre-employment reports. The team pride themselves on the ability to support clients of any size, from a few criminal record checks to a multinational organisation fully outsourcing all its pre-employment screening requirements.

Most recently DDC was selected as winners for the Business Improvement through Technology category at the East Midlands Chamber Business Awards. DDC was recognised for utilising innovative technology to work more effectively and to increase their ability to meet customers’ needs.  To be recognised through the East Midlands Chamber Business Awards, highlights the hard work and dedication of the whole team not only in recent years but over the last 20 years.

Most recently DDC were certified by the Home Office as a digital identity service provider (IDSP) for DBS and right to work checks. The certification was awarded following a rigorous audit process of our entire service including digital identity systems, staff, governance and policies. This fantastic achievement is a huge step forward in supporting clients with a seamless, user friendly and secure identity solution for both DBS and right to work checks.

How DDC aim to continue supporting FM?

As one of the fastest-growing sectors in the UK, facilities management organisations are increasingly adopting BPSS checks into their pre-employment procedures. DDC is continually exploring innovative solutions to enable clients to efficiently and compliantly background screen new and existing employees. As more and more FM organisations are asked to BPSS screen employees, DDC will continue to provide help and guidance to the FM sector with the core BPSS checks which include:

  • Criminal Record Checks
  • Employment references
