Total FM services provider CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) and the rail manufacturer Alstom have extended their long-term FM partnership, consolidating Alstom’s extensive and varied national portfolio under one contract.
Under the extended partnership, the company will provide a multi-faceted FM service for Alstom’s critical production and maintenance hubs across the UK, including technical services, cleaning, and waste management.
The extension represents a strengthening of the existing relationship, with the company providing FM and project management services across a significant portion of Alstom’s national estate since 2018.
In the next iteration of the partnership, the company’s delivery will centre on ensuring Alstom’s estate is fit for purpose to deliver the mobility solutions of tomorrow, employing technologies such as predictive risk-based maintenance strategies and creating a bespoke supply chain strategy.
Sustainability is also a key focus of the renewed delivery model, with the company implementing environmental best practice initiatives across its supply chain and services to support Alstom’s goal of reaching net zero by 2050.
Managing director Doug Janikiewicz said: “We are delighted to be continuing our long-standing relationship with Alstom and bringing our expertise in the rail industry to their complete UK portfolio.
“Our shared dedication to sustainability and our mutual understanding of the unique demands of the rail industry make this an incredibly rewarding partnership. We look forward to continuing to support Alstom, while setting new standards for sustainability in the rail industry.”
Alstom head of FM Stephen Taylor said: “Working in collaboration with CBRE for another five years shows how Alstom are looking to enhance Facilities Management within the rail sector, bringing responsible procurement of services with an agile partner that can support our 24/7 operations. My team and I look forward to supporting our stakeholders across our 37 sites in partnership with CBRE.”
Alstom has partnered with the company for the management of 18 sites within their national portfolio since 2018. In January 2021, Alstom completed its acquisition of Bombardier Transportation (BT), bringing all former BT sites under its ownership, subsequently awarding CBRE the contract for the consolidated portfolio.
The new contract between CBRE GWS and Alstom took effect in early December 2023.
