Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to deliver specialist fire solutions at a landmark residential development.
Great Charles Street, located in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, is being transformed from a 2.6-acre undeveloped brownfield site into a vibrant urban village reflecting the character of this historic area.
Standing at 39-storeys high, the development will provide 722 new homes for rent, a gym, green spaces, roof terraces, communal lounges, co-working space and ground floor boutique retail and café-bars to offer next-generation living within the city. This heavily contributes to the site owner Birmingham City Council’s ‘Big City Plan’ to create 5,000 new homes whilst valuing the city’s heritage and cultural assets.
In this contract, engineers from PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd will install a sprinkler system throughout the new development to give the building and all users the highest degree of safety in the event of a fire.
The automatic fire sprinkler system is the most widely used fire protection system today and has been used since 1872. These systems are designed to protect property and life as specified by the various automatic fire sprinkler standards. Losses from fires in buildings protected with sprinklers are estimated to be 1 in 10 of those in unprotected buildings.
