Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has completed a specialist roofing refurbishment and access safety upgrade at a UK facility operated by a premium automotive manufacturer, supporting long-term asset protection and safer working at height.
The project was delivered by NSS, part of the PTSG Group, following engagement through Integral. It combined expertise from NSS’s roofing maintenance and access safety teams to address roof deterioration and introduce permanent, compliant edge protection.
An initial inspection identified surface degradation caused by lichen, algae and dirt, along with cracks and weakened joints in the asphalt roof. These issues posed a risk to both roof integrity and operatives working at height. In addition, the roof perimeter required a safety solution that would not compromise the existing structure.
NSS delivered a fully managed solution, beginning with safe access and waste management arrangements, including the use of MEWPs and on-site skips. The roofing refurbishment was completed using a Flat Roof Liquid Encapsulation system, incorporating deep cleaning, targeted repairs, reinforcement of vulnerable areas and the application of a seamless Rapidroof topcoat to create a durable, watertight finish.
Alongside this, approximately 118 metres of freestanding galvanised steel guardrail was designed, supplied and installed in line with BS 13700. The non-penetrative system provides permanent edge protection, with counterweights designed to protect the roof covering and minimise trip hazards.
The project demonstrates PTSG’s ability to integrate multiple specialist services into a single, coordinated solution that enhances safety, compliance and asset longevity.
