On Monday, 4th March, more than 100 professionals from the suspended access, fall protection, and rope access sectors gathered in London for the inaugural Façade Access Design Engineering technical seminar.
The event welcomed architects, consultants, manufacturers, installers, maintainers, and end users, providing a wealth of perspectives and expert insights.
The Specialist Access Engineering and Maintenance Association (SAEMA) proudly sponsored this event, with its Chairman and PTSG’s Divisional Director, Mark Davison, featuring as one of the keynote speakers.
Reflecting on the seminar, Davison highlighted the importance of bringing together diverse expertise: “Having such a broad range of knowledge under one roof proved to be an invaluable experience for the industries we serve. Building on the crucial discussions that took place will lead to better outcomes in all aspects of our work, not just safety.”
Throughout the day, six experts from the Façade Access industry shared their knowledge, with Mark discussing the how to achieve exceptional outcomes in façade access.
“Early collaboration with the design team is crucial. It lays the groundwork for an outcome that not only remains true to the original concept but also ensures safe and adequate façade access throughout the building’s lifespan.”
SAEMA’s involvement in the seminar demonstrated its commitment to leading safety initiatives within the suspended access industry. Its members, some of whom attended the event, are leaders in prioritising workforce protection through the development of recognised guidelines and innovative training programs.
Mark outlined SAEMA’s collaborative ethos: “At SAEMA, we understand the importance of working with our industry peers to share ideas and information. Such collaborations enhance safety practices among our members and lead to the development of cross-industry guidelines.”
He also commented on the significance of SAEMA membership and training, which are regarded by buyers as marks of a supplier’s competence and commitment to the highest safety standards.
“Through its affiliate membership option, SAEMA enables collaborators to recognise the value that SAEMA members bring,” Mark explains.
Affiliate membership allows those in the façade access industry to demonstrate their commitment to safety by partnering with SAEMA. This strategy ensures competency throughout all facets of façade access and promotes best practices among those yet to acknowledge the crucial role of SAEMA’s guidance and training initiatives.
In keeping with the collaborative ethos, Mark welcomed relevant organisations to explore SAEMA’s affiliate membership option, offering a pathway for collaborators to actively contribute to the enhancement of safety practices within the industry.
