ISS raises over £40,000 in Movember fundraiser

ISS has raised a significant sum as part of a fundraiser campaign in November.

A fatal health crisis is currently affecting our fathers, partners, brothers and friends. Yet we rarely talk about it, even as it takes too many from us, too soon.

Testicular cancer affects close to 10,000 people per year in the UK, which is why so many among the ISS team pitched in to raise money this November for the fantastic charity, Movember.

Movember seeks to tear down the social taboos of prostate cancer, testicular cancer and male suicide, raising awareness of each via the unusual medium of facial hair.  By wearing our awareness on our sleeves (or in this case, our faces) Movember helps bring these difficult topics to the forefront of our social awareness.

To help raise awareness, the UK & Ireland Gender Balance ERG hosted a join event with the HRTea Rooms (discussing all things hormone related). ISS Charity Partner Macmillan presented on the topic of Prostate cancer, while John Allen and Sam Watson from the UK&I ERG brought the topic forward via a brilliant awareness webinar.

Bid Manager Amy Dolan and Key Account Director Nerina Craciun hosted a podcast for the ISS TV page, candidly discussing testicular cancer and male mental health.

Penny Fulker, Head of Workplace Experience and Cristine Jacobs, Curation Experience Manager, met up with managers and placemakers as part of their Livv workplace curations. Encouraging people to get involved, have fun and join in our colourful Movember photoshoot, the team’s superb photos adorned our workplace walls and our social media campaign ensuring a huge fundraising success and plenty of follower donations.

Rounding off a successful month, the Livv team were once again on hand to provide a final victory lap via smoothie bike. Encouraging everyone to take part, burn off some energy and create some fresh fruit smoothies in the process, it was the perfect reminder of how exercise and healthy eating can benefit us all.

Globally, 14 ISS teams including NZ, AU, US, UK, DK, IE, FR, APAC, and Group HQ have raised a staggering £20,449.00 in the space of a single month.

  • Bryan Goold, our top ISS Movember individual, raised a whooping £2,171.63!
  • A combined 2437 km were covered via sponsored walks – that’s the equivalent of walking from Copenhagen to London and back again!
  • The UK was the top Movember Team, raising a fantastic £5098.00

A spokesperson said: “A special mention must also go out to Andy Tester, who arranged the sponsored fundraising events and made these fantastic contributions possible. Thanks for all the hard work, Andy.

“Nor can we forget the work of our wonderful EGM sponsors, who MATCHED the total of funds raised. As such, ISS donated a total of over £40k to this amazing cause!

“We’re delighted not only to see our Movember fundraiser be so successful, but to see ISS teams both locally and globally collaborate on such a fantastic charity effort – a big thanks to everyone.”
