Global real estate advisor CBRE is adding a new pathway to its market-leading apprenticeship scheme it was announced today, the first day of National Apprenticeship Week.
For the first time, Marketing and Communications is included in the offering for the 2023 apprentice cohort, following the addition of new apprenticeship pathways in HR, Finance and ESG for the current 2022 intake. Apprentices can also select pathways in Real Estate, Project Management, Building Surveying and Quantity Surveying.
CBRE runs the largest and first of its kind apprenticeship scheme in the property industry, having launched back in 2013 by UK and Ireland CEO, Ciaran Bird, who joined the property industry at the age of 16, straight from school.
CBRE currently has 45 apprentices, based in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Aberdeen, Bristol and – for the first time this year – Southampton.
Hannah Twelvetrees, Next Generation Partner, CBRE UK, said: “Apprenticeships have a positive impact on individuals, businesses, and the wider economy and that’s why CBRE advocates apprenticeships as an effective route into a successful real estate career. Drawing from a diverse pool of talent has tangible business benefits – it brings together different perspectives and opinions that drive change and innovation for our clients.
“CBRE’s apprenticeship programme is an important way for us to diversify our talent pipeline, creating an inclusive, innovative and engaging culture where our employees can realise their full potential.”
The apprenticeship scheme at CBRE forms part of the wider Next Generation offering, which also facilitates graduate, intern and placement programmes across the UK and currently has 226 people enrolled.
CBRE also announced today that it is extending the successful partnership with Career Ready.
CBRE has worked with Career Ready to boost the social mobility of 25 young people from across London, Manchester, Birmingham and Scotland, giving them the chance to get an insight into a working environment and develop their skills and knowledge of the property industry during a two-week placement.
Two former Career Ready participants are now enrolled as apprentices at CBRE; Yashnee Bheekha in HR and Kadra Abdi in Surveying.
Kadra Abdi, Apprentice Surveyor, Hotels, CBRE UK, said: “Being a part of the Career Ready Programme allowed me to find my interest in the property industry through an internship at CBRE where I gained valuable insight into the various sectors.”
Yashnee Bheekha, Apprentice People Advisor, CBRE UK, said: “Without Career Ready I wouldn’t have been able to meet the amazing people who fuelled my passion for HR and the company I work at.”
Applications for next year’s apprentice cohort are still open and will close on 13th February.
