CVA Standard dedicated in official ceremony

In 2022, Corps Security launched its Corps Veterans Association (CVA) to add contemporary weight to the rich heritage of the UK’s longest serving private security organisation in the UK.

As the company developed the mission, vision, and values of the association, it seemed both appropriate and necessary to have a standard specifically for the growing veteran community for which the team were delighted to have this officially dedicated at its head office in London.

The CVA offers veterans working at the company and its subsidiary brands a unique veteran community within the historically significant commercial organisation. The CVA celebrates the military heritage and social mission which has been carried since the Corps of Commissionaires was formed by Captain Sir Edward Walter 164 years ago and provides a resource for veterans to embrace their passion and engagement with the military.

On 23 May, Reverend Nicholas Pnematicatos MA BA(hons) DipMin RN RAF (Retired) joined president of the CVA, Mike Bluestone, chair Nigel Horne, Corps Security CEO Mike Bullock, and the standard bearer for the day, Tom Scott, to perform an official dedication ceremony in line with military tradition.

Mr Bluestone said: “The launch of the CVA adds contemporary weight to the rich heritage of the Corps of Commissionaires, and to our status as a social enterprise, and will do so through charitable endeavours, and by harnessing the individual and collective spirt of our colleagues who have served in HM Forces, and in the case of our reservists, who continue to serve to this day. It is also fitting that the new CVA has its own standard, and equally proper that in line with our military heritage, that the standard be dedicated in a formal way. For me, I could think of no member of the clergy more qualified to officiate today than Father Nick, a former military padre who has served in both the Royal Nay and Royal Air Force.”

The CVA’s mission will be to retain the strong links with the military, through attendance of events that celebrate our military forces personnel and significant national and local remembrance services, supporting and engaging in fundraising activities and to offer a community for veterans, as well as serving reservists within Corps Security. Over time, the CVA will extend its membership to previous colleagues and veterans from across the UK.

The company, as a social enterprise, retains its commitment to widen its support for the veteran community in the UK. The CVA will work closely with the organisation and its chosen veteran charities to ensure Sir Edward Walter’s original mission remains its primary focus, and is modernised to appeal to a contemporary, ever-changing society.
