Jackie Kennedy, who works within the cleaning team of FM service provider 14forty, was awarded the Frontline Heroes trophy at the IWFM Impact Awards on Monday.
She has been a valued member of the team at the Essar Refinery in Stanlow, Cheshire, for 13 years, leading to her selfless and community-minded spirit recognised by the IWFM judges.
Ms Kennedy continuously thinks of ways to raise money for good causes, as well as devoting her own time to support those who are less fortunate.
At the refinery, she cleans the changing-room facilities for one of its sub-contractors and often finds loose change on the floor – usually around £20 per month. She recently asked if she could use the money to buy feminine hygiene products for Ukrainian refugees, resulting in a donation of more than £200.
In addition, the sub-contractor’s HQ learned of Ms Kennedy’s initiative and introduced it across its European sites, raising £110,000 for the German Red Cross, a society that helps people in need.
Outside of work, Ms Kennedy is dedicated to her community, helping young people dealing with homelessness or facing substance-abuse problems. She also works with local support groups to offer emergency accommodation and a listening ear.
Managing director Mauro Ortelli said: “What started as a small initiative has ultimately changed many lives around the world. We are incredibly proud of Jackie and all that she has achieved both in and out of work. Jackie fully deserves her Frontline Heroes Award and to see her win was a very special moment for all of us.
“It’s also a shining example of our people-first strategy, where we seek to employ, develop and retain the right individuals who truly embody our company’s values.”
