With a very heavy heart we share the sad news that our sales manager, Andy Shields, passed away last week.
We would like to express our thanks and appreciation to all those who have shared their condolences and kind words about Andy.
While this is a very sad time, it has also been wonderful to hear many of the warm and funny stories that have been shared, which he would have delighted in.
The role of sales manager is often associated with a hard-headed approach to life, but Andy had shown his true character by avoiding this and continuing to ensure that his customers received high levels of support and the best value for their investment.
Although he was a consummate professional, he always retained his care and consideration for others, that frequently included sharing a drink with his industry contacts and colleagues after the hard work had been completed.
Prior to his excellent sales management career, which had included leading sales teams for major brands at the former EMAP publishing company, Andy had been a successful musician and member of The Naked Apes band.
This included tours of Europe and America and some remarkable experiences, and he retained his love of music and guitars as he transitioned to his role as a devoted father to his two children, Charlie and Bella, and as he enjoyed increasing success in his media sales role.
He had only worked for FM Business Daily for a short time prior to passing away on 7 December, but had already made contact with many of the companies, PR and marketing people in our industry.
We would like to express our sincere condolences to his family, friends and former colleagues.
From Dennis and the team at FM Business Daily
