The Blade has been awarded the highest BREEAM rating for any Berkshire office building*, recognising the building’s blend of sustainable design and eco credentials.
As well as achieving top recognition in the region, The Blade has also been listed in BREEAM’s top 20 buildings across the whole of the UK, placing 13th for the BREEAM In-use International Commercial V6 Part 2 Management Performance scheme.
BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) assesses building performance based on a range of environmental credentials and is used across 70 countries. Buildings are responsible for nearly 40 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions and are a major contributor to climate change. Using the BREEAM framework helps buildings to minimise their impact and perform more sustainably. The Blade has been certified with a Very Good BREEAM rating, and rates in the top 13% of all BREEAM In-use International Commercial V6 schemes globally.

The BREEAM assessment covers a wide range of sustainable practices including design, construction, energy use, carbon emissions, water consumption, health and wellbeing, pollution, transport, materials, waste, ecology and management.
