Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been praised by the University of Birmingham following the successful delivery of a time-critical electrical inspection at one of the institution’s most advanced research facilities.
The project, completed by PTSG Electrical Services Ltd, involved an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) at the High Temperature Research Centre (HTRC) — a collaboration between the University and Rolls-Royce dedicated to production-scale research and experimentation. The HTRC operates sensitive experiments 24/7, meaning that any disruption to systems could have significant implications.
PTSG’s engineers – Joe Salsbury, Matt Loud and Richard Griffiths – responded swiftly to an urgent request for testing, quickly mobilising and carefully planning works to minimise impact on the facility’s operations. With highly specialised equipment and building management systems in continuous use, coordination with the university’s operations and maintenance teams was essential.
As part of the work, engineers carried out detailed circuit identification and labelling, ensuring that all systems could remain operational while maintaining safety and compliance throughout. The university’s Quality and Health & Safety Manager praised the team’s technical skill and professionalism, noting their diligence, accuracy, and adherence to site-specific health and safety procedures.
The Manager commented: “Any of PTSG’s team would be welcome back to our site. In fact, we hope one of them will conduct the remedial work identified in the report.”
