Engineers from Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) have successfully delivered a specialist electrical project at a landmark new surf resort in Edinburgh, as part of a development set to redefine Scotland’s tourism and sporting landscape.
The state-of-the-art facility, which welcomes everyone from novice surfers to elite athletes, required bespoke electrical solutions to ensure safety and compliance at every stage of its development.
PTSG Electrical Services Ltd was initially appointed to undertake an earthing design study for the site-wide 11kV HV substation network. With multiple substations across the development, the team carried out extensive soil resistivity surveys to determine optimal installation points. Given the project’s unique infrastructure, engineers ensured that touch and step potential voltages remained safely below the 25V threshold in line with IEC 61936-1 standards.
Innovatively, PTSG’s specialists integrated the wave pool’s rebar into the earthing strategy—providing additional protection for users in the event of an earth fault.
Following the success of the initial scope, PTSG was recommended to the project’s Independent Distribution Network Operator (iDNO) to deliver the Earth Electrode System design for the 33/11kV primary substation. The Group’s engineers subsequently delivered the full turnkey solution—design, installation, testing and commissioning—demonstrating both technical expertise and a client-focused approach.
This latest project further reinforces PTSG’s position as a trusted specialist contractor in high-performance environments.
