WPS – the property services arm of Wates Group – has been selected as sole supplier to provide rapid-response services to make dangerous buildings and structures safe in the event of an emergency.
WPS has been contracted by the consortium lead – The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea – for the four-year framework to provide response services across all London Boroughs. The team retains the contact after more than 15 years as lead contractor.
It includes the delivery of emergency shoring and remedial works to dangerous buildings and structures within a two-hour window on a 24-hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year basis.
David Morgan, Executive Managing Director for WPS, said: “We have successfully addressed more than 1,800 structural emergencies since being appointed to the framework in 2006, carrying out over 400 jobs in the last four years alone.
“Over the years we’ve been on the framework, we’ve built a 3000-strong team of property services experts, including specialists with in-depth knowledge around dangerous structures who have provided crucial services responding to complex and high-risk challenges. With this deep sector expertise, agility and strong supply chain links, we’re incredibly well placed to offer this rapid response service and we’re proud to continue to support the framework.”
WPS is happy to extend the working relationship with the London District Surveyors’ Association (LDSA) for a further four years and will continue to work with the building control teams of London Boroughs in keeping the public safe.
