Triple award success for Serco as a Global Leading Employer, a leading employer of veterans and a top-tier company for mental health

Serco, the international provider of critical government services, has been recognised three times in the last week as a leading employer.

The three successes are:

  • Winning a Global Leading Employers Award
  • Being recognised as a leading employer of veterans in the UK
  • Retaining our Tier 1 ranking for supporting colleagues’ mental health

First, Serco has won a Global Leading Employers Award, placing us among the Top 1% of employers worldwide.  Global Leading Employers is the world’s most comprehensive study on employer quality. Compiled by the Institute of Research & Data Aggregation, based in Germany, the study draws on a broad spectrum of sources, feedback and criteria to develop a holistic assessment of employers, across categories including recruiting performance, employee experience, work-life balance, compensation and benefits, culture and values, and prosperity and leadership.  This award reflects Serco’s ongoing commitment of creating a workplace where people thrive, and we’re honoured to be recognised on the global stage.

Secondly, Serco came third in the ranking of Great British Employers of Veterans. This is a leading benchmark of employers delivering the most outstanding pathways and support for veterans, reservists and military families, and reflects a genuine, measurable and sustained commitment to the Armed Forces community in the UK.  Inclusion in the programme requires employers to undergo a comprehensive assessment combining objective data with expert human evaluation by an independent Judging Panel of 21 business leaders who are veterans in their own right.

Thirdly, Serco has retained its Tier 1 ranking for supporting colleagues’ mental health in the UK’s 2025 CCLA Corporate Mental Health Benchmark.  The CCLA Benchmark is designed to evaluate and improve how listed companies support mental health in the workplace and aims to raise standards, transparency, and accountability across the corporate sector. It sets itself apart from most similar assessments in that it uses open-source data on companies’ performance on mental health support for staff, rather than relying on company self-reporting.  Serco is one of only two companies that has held Tier 1 status every year since the Benchmark began in 2022. The retention of our Tier 1 status reflects the importance that Serco puts on supporting colleagues with their wellbeing, including mental health.

Gillian Duggan, Serco’s Group Chief People and Culture Officer, said:

“I am delighted that Serco has been recognised three times in the last week, as a Leading Employer globally, as a leading employer of veterans and as a top UK company for colleague mental health. We are a business that depends on our excellent colleagues, particularly those on the front line who deliver services with pride, who all contribute to making Serco a great workplace. It is very gratifying to see our efforts to make Serco a supportive and engaging employer have been recognised externally.”
