Celebrating NHS Day 2025: PTSG highlights its contribution to healthcare estates

As the UK marks NHS Day 2025 and the 77th anniversary of the founding of the National Health Service, Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) is recognising its long-standing role in supporting vital NHS infrastructure across the UK.

Launched in 1948 by Minister of Health Aneurin Bevan at Park Hospital in Manchester, the NHS was built on the principle that healthcare should be free and accessible to all. Today, it remains one of the world’s largest and most respected health systems, employing around 1 in 20 of the UK workforce and caring for over one million patients every 36 hours.

PTSG has delivered a diverse range of specialist services across NHS estates, helping to keep facilities safe, compliant, and operational – from flagship hospitals to emergency pandemic infrastructure.

Key healthcare projects

Among its earliest major NHS contracts, PTSG completed a comprehensive fixed wire testing programme at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham – home to the world’s largest single-floor critical care unit. The project required innovative testing techniques, including live and dead load approaches, to ensure patient safety without disruption to services.

During the COVID-19 response, PTSG played a pivotal role in the rapid mobilisation of NHS Nightingale Exeter, completing installation of critical fire safety and security systems – including fire alarms, air sampling, access control and CCTV – within just ten weeks.

PTSG has also delivered:

  • Fall protection maintenance and fire escape staircases through its Access & Safety division
  • Lightning protection installation and testing across numerous NHS estates
  • Water hygiene and treatment services in both England and Scotland

With a multi-disciplinary capability spanning five business divisions, PTSG remains committed to supporting the NHS through high-quality specialist services that protect people and enable care environments to perform safely and effectively.
