Saturday, July 19th marked a memorable day for Stannah, as a group of dedicated employees took on the exhilarating challenge of abseiling down the iconic Northampton Lift Tower, all in the name of charity. The event, blessed with clear skies and high spirits, was a resounding success, raising a significant sum for the Lift Industry Charity.
This summer abseil followed the overwhelming success of last year’s event and was inspired by the enthusiasm of those who couldn’t participate previously. Among the brave participants and their family showing up to support was also a representative from the Lift Industry Charity, Jools Black, who shared:
“Great day and what a result, we so appreciate the efforts and time – Thank you. From The Lift Charity, we would like to send you our heartfelt thank you. The money will help make such a difference to those who need the charity’s help.”
The UK Lift Industry Charity plays a crucial role in supporting families of lift industry workers affected by work-related injuries or tragic losses. Raising over £4325, every pound raised goes directly to helping those in need, thanks to Stannah’s generous decision to cover all event costs. Even more impressively, the company has pledged to match all donations, doubling the impact of every contribution, meaning a total of £8650 raised.
Participants described the day as both thrilling and deeply meaningful:
Loreen Moody, Talent Acquisition Lead, said: “I went over the edge and made it down! Abseiling down the Northampton lift test tower with my Stannah teammates was a huge personal challenge, especially as someone with a fear of heights. It was both exhilarating and daunting, but absolutely worth it to raise money for a cause that supports families affected by injury or loss in our industry.”
Mark Purkis, Warrington Branch Manager, reflected: “The view from the top was breathtaking, and it’s great that some of the site that I once worked at as an apprentice for the Express Lift Company remains today. It was nice to come back and understand how the tower is used for product development and prototype testing within our industry.”
The event not only showcased the courage and camaraderie of the Stannah team but also highlighted the company’s long-standing commitment to community and industry support. With a history dating back to 1867 and 11 branches across the UK, Stannah continues to lead not only in lift solutions but also in corporate giving.
