Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) is continuing its work to provide specialist electrical services at Culham Science Centre, which is owned and managed by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA).
The Oxfordshire site, formerly the Royal Naval Air Station HMS Hornbill, has been central to the UK’s research into plasma physics and fusion energy since the 1960s. Today, it is home to the country’s largest Fusion Technology Cluster, supporting the development of fusion as a sustainable energy source.
As part of the latest phase of works, PTSG Access & Safety Ltd has secured a contract to carry out a second round of surveys on the site’s fall arrest systems and equipment. This includes inspections of ladders, handrails and Mansafe systems installed on the exterior of the facilities.
Mansafe systems are horizontal lifeline solutions that allow operatives to move securely when working at height. They provide a continuous connection via a harness and lanyard, significantly reducing risk.
PTSG delivers installation, testing, inspection and maintenance of fall arrest and fall restraint systems across the UK, helping to ensure operatives can carry out work at height with maximum safety.
