PTSG to provide access and safety services for joint Shurgard and Lidl development

Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has secured a contract to deliver specialist access and safety services at a new mixed-use development in Cheshunt that will bring together two well-known brands from different sectors.

The scheme will see the creation of a 3,000-square-metre building, housing a self-storage unit for Shurgard alongside a Lidl food store.

Shurgard currently operates 89 storage facilities across the UK, strategically positioned near major roads and transport links. Lidl, one of the world’s leading discount supermarket chains, runs more than 12,650 stores globally. Since opening its first UK store in 1994, it has grown its market share in the UK grocery sector to 8.1% as of June 2025.

Engineers from PTSG Access & Safety Ltd will install a range of fall protection systems at the new site. These include fall arrest and fall restraint solutions, both of which are essential in protecting operatives working at height.

Fall arrest systems, such as full body harnesses, horizontal lifelines and anchor points, are designed to minimise injury in the event of a fall. Fall restraint systems, including edge protection, guard rails and demarcation, prevent workers from reaching hazardous edges in the first place.

Through these measures, PTSG continues to support safe working practices in the built environment while contributing to the success of high-profile developments nationwide.
