AtkinsRéalis, a world-class design and engineering services company, has been recognised for its excellence in delivery and multi-disciplinary capabilities in the education sector with four awards at the Education Estates Awards 2025.

The event in Manchester on Tuesday celebrated the people who are shaping the future of learning environments through innovation, development, and outstanding achievements.

In an unprecedented sweep of honours AtkinsRéalis was awarded; multi-disciplinary consultant of the year, project of the year (state schools) for Prestley Wood Academy, project of the year (inclusive design) for Lisburne School, and refurbishment of the year for the Edinburgh Futures Institute.

The consultancy of the year award highlights the breadth of AtkinsRéalis’ education sector experience which spans schools, including special educational needs (SEND) and alternative provision; colleges, and higher education institutions (HEIs).

The award also reflects the value of working in partnership with clients and drawing capabilities from across the AtkinsRéalis business to deliver a truly end-to-end service, including extensive expertise in inclusive and accessible design, retrofits, estate optimisation, advisory, futureproofing and securing funding sources to best support client need.

Event judges said the COTY award recognises a consultancy firm that has demonstrated outstanding expertise, innovation, and commitment in delivering strategic guidance and solutions for education projects.

Stewart Macleod, Market Director for Buildings & Places at AtkinsRéalis, said: “We are extremely proud of our track record in the education sector where we have seen significant growth in recent years, and this amazing recognition is really down to our teams around the country who work tirelessly to deliver for our clients.

“The added benefit from our education sector projects is the real social value they bring to the communities where they are located, providing inspiring places to learn which really speaks to our purpose as a business.”

AtkinsRéalis has seen its business grow by a third (32%) in the education estates market in the past four years, with 300 projects from the Department for Education framework addressed in the past six years, and recognition for its leading role as designer and consultant in SEND provision, for both DfE and local authorities.
