Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been appointed to deliver specialist earthing and lightning protection systems as part of the major redevelopment of Shotton Mill in Deeside, Flintshire, near the Wales-England border.
Once complete, the upgraded paper mill will produce almost 100 per cent recycled fibre products, powered by a hydrogen-fuelled combined heat and power (CHP) plant. The facility will recycle and purify its own wastewater, contributing to an annual carbon reduction equivalent to that of 190,000 homes.
Engineers from PTSG’s Lightning Protection Installations Division will design and install the systems to safeguard people, assets and infrastructure across the site.
Lightning protection systems are designed to intercept, conduct and safely disperse electrical discharges to earth, preventing structural damage and electrical hazards. These systems must be installed and maintained in line with BS EN 62305 standards.
