Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG), through its constituent company Neo, has been appointed to provide specialist fire safety solutions for a major manufacturer of aircraft engines and avionics.
The client, a world-renowned organisation with more than a century of innovation in aerospace engineering, also produces auxiliary power units (APUs) and other aviation systems. Its expertise extends beyond aviation, having played a role in landmark space missions including Skylab, the Viking programme, and Pioneer 10. Notably, in the late 1960s, five of the company’s engineers were enlisted by filmmaker Stanley Kubrick to design realistic space technologies for “2001: A Space Odyssey.”
Under the new contract, engineers from Neo will carry out fire door inspections at the company’s Edinburgh site. With more than 40,000 building fires recorded in the UK each year, ensuring the integrity and compliance of fire doors is critical. Regular inspections and maintenance not only protect lives and property but can also extend the lifespan of fire doors by five to ten years, representing a significant cost saving across large estates.
Neo forms part of PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd, one of the Group’s five independent divisions. The company provides a comprehensive range of passive fire protection services including fire door inspection, maintenance and installation, as well as fire-rated glazing, fire curtains, cavity barriers, fire stopping and penetration sealing, and fire compartmentation.
Elsewhere within PTSG’s Fire Solutions division, teams also deliver fire and smoke damper testing and maintenance alongside ventilation and ductwork cleaning, supporting clients nationwide in achieving full fire safety compliance.
