Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has completed a programme of urgent remedial works to a cathedral, delivered through its specialist height services business, Pendrich Height Services.
Pendrich, one of the UK’s most experienced steeplejack and specialist access providers, was tasked with repairing the finial rod and masonry at the top of the cathedral’s spire, where water ingress had begun to develop. To carry out the works safely and efficiently, the team designed and erected a bespoke scaffolding tower, enabling access to one of the structure’s highest and most challenging points.
In addition to the masonry repairs, Pendrich engineers undertook remedial works to the wind vane and the lightning protection system, ensuring the spire remains safe and resilient against future weathering. The project followed a rope access inspection during which Pendrich operatives carried out a detailed survey and produced a comprehensive report containing recommendations for planned maintenance.
Pendrich’s heritage in steeplejack services reflects a long tradition within the industry, famously championed by the late Fred Dibnah, whose television work in the 1980s and 1990s brought the craft of steeplejacking and the preservation of industrial structures to national attention.
PTSG’s specialist teams continue to support historic and high-profile buildings across the UK, delivering safe, precise and expert maintenance at height.
