Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has delivered a specialist electrical services project to support the safe operation of the IFS Cloud Cable Car, the landmark gondola system spanning the River Thames.
The cable car — known informally as the Dangleway — connects the Greenwich Peninsula with the Royal Victoria Dock. Built by Doppelmayr at a cost of around £60 million, it has been in service since 2012 and is owned by Transport for London (TfL), with operations managed by FirstGroup. The 1km route offers passengers uninterrupted views across London’s skyline and ExCeL London.
PTSG’s role on the project saw its lightning protection specialists undertake a full site survey and inspection of the cableway infrastructure. The team’s work required access to the system’s towers, offering panoramic vantage points across the capital.
As the UK’s leading provider of power earthing and lightning protection services, PTSG delivers a full suite of design, installation, testing, inspection and maintenance services for lightning and surge protection systems, as well as power earthing works.
The Group operates through five specialist divisions — Access & Safety, Electrical Services, Building Access Specialists, Fire Solutions and Water Treatment — enabling it to support more than 30,000 customers with integrated, high-performance solutions across the built environment.
