Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG), through its company Neo Property Services, has delivered a programme of specialist fire safety upgrades at a leading public research university in the north of England.
The works formed part of a summer refurbishment scheme focused on student accommodation blocks across a campus that has grown significantly since its establishment in 1963.
Neo’s team carried out extensive fire door replacements across multiple buildings, working within a short delivery window while blocks were unoccupied. The programme required close coordination with refurbishment, compliance and survey teams operating simultaneously on site.
A number of challenges shaped the project, including the complexity of the university’s 1960s CLASP building stock, the presence of asbestos, and the need for additional surveys and safe systems of work. The high volume of doors required across several accommodation blocks also placed increased pressure on labour and material resources.
Every installation was required to meet strict manufacturer specifications and third-party certification standards, with consistent quality essential given the prominence of the works within the wider refurbishment programme.
Delivery relied on strong programme management, with teams phasing works precisely around the summer shutdown to ensure completion ahead of the student return. FIRAS and BM Trada-certified installers provided compliance assurance across varied building types, supported by robust asbestos management procedures.
Neo also coordinated closely with other contractors to minimise disruption and maintain progress, while detailed logistical planning ensured materials, labour and access were managed efficiently across multiple work fronts. Comprehensive digital reporting provided the university with clear evidence of compliance for each door installed.
The project reinforces PTSG’s capability in delivering high-volume, compliance-critical fire safety upgrades within complex, live estate environments.
