PTSG Completes Specialist Glass Deck Replacement at Iconic Spinnaker Tower

Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has successfully delivered a high-level glass observation deck replacement at Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth through its Pendrich Height Services division.

The 170-metre landmark – a centrepiece of the Portsmouth Harbour regeneration – comprises three viewing platforms at 100m, 105m and 110m above sea level. The tower’s distinctive spinnaker-inspired design makes it one of the city’s most visited attractions, offering panoramic views of the Solent and surrounding areas.

Pendrich’s rope access team carried out the technically challenging work to replace the glass observation deck, ensuring the structure remains fully operational and safe for visitors. The project required specialist access skills due to the height and limited access points, underscoring the division’s expertise in delivering complex installations on major structures.

The successful completion of the deck replacement allows Spinnaker Tower to maintain uninterrupted visitor operations while enhancing its long-term structural integrity and safety. The Pendrich team worked with precision and planning to minimise disruption and meet the rigorous safety standards required for this type of work at height.

Pendrich Height Services is recognised as one of the UK’s most experienced providers of steeplejack and rope access services. The business regularly undertakes projects on structures that are inaccessible without specialist skills, including industrial chimneys, flare stacks, heritage monuments and high-level towers such as Blackpool Tower.

The Spinnaker Tower commission adds to Pendrich’s portfolio of high-profile assignments and highlights PTSG’s growing presence in the provision of specialist access and structural services across the built environment.
