Cardo has completed a targeted programme of improvement works at Wickham Community Centre, strengthening its relationship with one of the district’s most valued community hubs.
The centre hosts a wide range of groups and essential services, including a Men’s Shed repairs café, gardening clubs, Citizens Advice sessions and a food bank. It supports residents across the Parish of Wickham and surrounding areas.
Over three days, Cardo’s carpenters designed, built and installed bespoke storage cupboards in the main office. The new units improve functionality while discreetly concealing fuse boxes and operational panels. Combined with recently installed flooring and office furniture, the upgrades have created a more practical and welcoming environment for staff and visitors.
Groundworkers also resurfaced the rear concrete path, a key access route used by the food bank. The previous uneven surface posed a trip risk and made deliveries challenging. The new path provides safer and smoother access for volunteers, suppliers and residents.
Further works were carried out across the site, including electrical upgrades, plumbing repairs and additional carpentry. These were delivered in response to priorities identified by centre staff.
The project builds on Cardo’s earlier support for the centre, including donations and hands on assistance at its Christmas Fair, which raised funds for lunch clubs and outreach programmes.
Kate English, Centre Manager at Wickham Community Centre, said the improvements had made a tangible difference.
“We’d like to thank Cardo Group for the incredible difference they’ve made to our centre. Their commitment and hard work have had a genuinely positive impact on our community,” she said.
“The team were friendly, efficient and always willing to help. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and their positive attitude made a real difference throughout these renovations.”
Fen Walker, Branch Manager at Cardo, said the company was proud to support a facility that plays a central role in local life.
“Wickham Community Centre is a true beacon for local residents, thanks to its incredible staff supporting people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. We’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a vital community space,” he said.
“It’s important to us all at Cardo to support local organisations that make a difference in people’s everyday lives, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the centre in the future.”
