Capital Service Solutions Group, one of Scotland’s leading specialist cleaning firms, has appointed its first Head of HSEQ and Facilities Management as part of a wider growth strategy.
Lawrence Curran joins the Livingston based company from veterinary services provider Linnaeus, where he held a similar role. A former Facilities Manager at South Lanarkshire Council, he brings 25 years of facilities management experience, including 12 years in local authority roles.
The appointment comes as CSSG targets further expansion, with a particular focus on the pharmaceuticals and hotel sectors. The business operates across the UK, delivering professional cleaning, decorating and waste management services. In December, it was named Business of the Year at the West Lothian Chamber of Commerce Awards.
Managing Director Moreland McDiarmid said the move to bring HSEQ leadership in house reflects the company’s long term ambitions.
“We previously used external resources for health and safety and quality assurance,” he said. “We decided to fulfil these internally so rather than have a generic response to clients’ needs, we could make the process quicker, bespoke and purpose fit not only for where we are just now but where we want to go in the future.
“Lawrence brings a wealth of experience in health and safety, with a strong track record of supporting teams to maintain high standards across a range of environments. He is vastly experienced and I’m very pleased to have him on board as part of our senior leadership team as we look to open up new avenues for the business.”
Mr McDiarmid added that Mr Curran’s appointment strengthens the firm’s integrated facilities management capability and supports its three year growth plan.
“His arrival expands our facilities management capability and oversight, giving us greater scope and depth across our existing soft services and integrated FM offering,” he said.
“He will play a key role in strengthening our commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement across all sites. Having someone of his standing heading up this side of the business instils great confidence in people. He is very accessible for clients and that allows me to look at other aspects of the business as we continue to grow.”
Mr Curran said he was drawn to the company’s vision and its commitment to health and safety.
“I was very impressed with Moreland’s vision and how he wants the business to grow,” he said.
“One thing which resonated with me was his drive and focus on commitment to health and safety. It’s refreshing to see a managing director determined to galvanise this area of his organisation and our thoughts aligned on that. I think this is an excellent fit for both of us.
“There’s a real family feel to the company. There is a work ethos, of course, but there is also a flexible approach to the day to day business and that is reflected in how happy the staff are and how long many of them have been with Capital.”
