M Group Services Plant & Fleet Solutions continues roll-out of sustainable fuel

At their depot in Stevenage, M Group Services Plant & Fleet Solutions (MGSPFS) has begun fuelling its vans with Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), as well as unveiling its brand-new solar and HVO-powered welfare unit.

HVO is an environmentally friendly, odourless alternative to traditional diesel and is a renewable source of fuel produced in the process of hydrogenation, i.e., treatment with hydrogen. HVO is 85% cleaner than traditional diesel and meets industry standards and regulations for use in plant and vehicles.

Compared to fossil diesel and regular biodiesel, HVO is certified by the ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) to reduce carbon emissions by 90% and is gaining popularity on the European and global markets, with an increasing number of companies investing in this new technology as it gives an almost identical energy output in both variable and fixed speed engines. This use of HVO aligns with our commitments to reduce our carbon footprint by 50% by 2030, supporting the UK’s bold environmental commitments to improve air quality and ultimately achieve Net-Zero carbon emissions by 2050.

M Group Services recently joined the EV100, with MGSPFS committing to transition its core fleet of over 8,000 vehicles to electric by 2030. This continued roll-out of HVO, twinned with our EV100 commitments, outlines the steps we are taking to reduce our carbon footprint and ensure all plant and fleet operations across the Group are a sustainable as possible. Earlier this week, MGSPFS also unveiled their new solar and HVO-powered static welfare unit which is used for on-site training and meetings. Click here to learn more about this innovative new piece of site equipment.

Throughout M Group Services’ operating businesses, the use of HVO and solar-powered equipment has supported our outstanding ESG performance, for which M Group Services was recognised as a global leader by an independent risk rating agency, Sustainalytics. For more information on M Group Services’ ESG score, click here.
