VINCI Facilities is working in partnership with The Retrofit Academy CIC to make sure its teams are fully equipped to advise on the absolute best bespoke solutions to help deliver optimised retrofit net zero solutions across the UK.
VINCI Facilities Building Solutions has committed to training over 50% of its dedicated social housing team to be experts in social housing retrofit and 100% qualified in fire safety and cladding remediation.
There are three further levels of training being undertaken across centres in Essex, Devon, the West Midlands and Manchester. Employees are completing Levels 5, 4 and 2 Awards. By June, VINCI Facilities Building Solutions teams will be qualified in all skills areas required to meet the retrofit challenge – coordination, risk management, and assessment.
VINCI Facilities is at the centre of the drive to decarbonise the UK’s built environment. Its focus right now is on providing bespoke Net Zero retrofit solutions that improve the lives of social housing tenants as well as the owners, users and developers of our built environment. That means taking a whole house, fabric first approach to retrofit.
That dedication also covers a commitment to creating employment opportunities in the fast-growing retrofit sector. VINCI Facilities Building Solutions is partnering with The Retrofit Academy CIC to sponsor people who are currently out of work to carry out a 10-week retrofit skills bootcamp. They will study for the Level 3 Certificate in Domestic Retrofit Advice so that they can work on retrofit projects advising clients and providing great customer service. On the successful completion of the course they will have the opportunity join the VINCI Facilities Building Solutions teams on their secured retrofit projects.
Tony Raikes, managing director of VINCI Facilities said,
“Net zero can only be achieved via a holistic approach and our ambition is to work with stakeholders to go further than current building regulations; and beyond SAP and EPC testing to deliver the best possible kWh/m2/pa energy performance for each building and full PAS 2035 compliance. The best way to achieve this is in partnership and our approach is rooted in collaboration between clients, owners, occupiers and our supply chain. This training with The Retrofit Academy gives tenants and our customers the assurance that all of our teams understand the nature of the problem and the right way to address it.”
Jenny Pierpoint, COO of The Retrofit Academy said,
“We are proud to be working with VINCI Facilities to ensure their teams have the knowledge and competencies to undertake quality retrofit projects. Retrofitting our aging housing stock is critical to achieving UK Net Zero and addressing the fuel poverty crisis. One of the biggest challenges to undertaking quality domestic retrofit at scale is the fact that the supply chain is currently far too small. Embracing the retrofit opportunity by committing to the development of retrofit skills is exactly what the sector needs.”
