Demand for smart building software sees intelligent building platform IBOS signed up across 1m sq. ft of assets nationwide.
Challenging sustainability targets and rising energy costs have focused landlords’ attention on operational efficiencies, leading to increased demand for smart building software.
This increasingly sharp focus on energy efficiency and environmental performance in property management has seen Workman’s IBOS (Intelligent Building Operating System) platform rolled out across 1m sq. ft of commercial real estate UK-wide.
Having launched in May 2021, clients including Columbia Threadneedle, Blackrock and Federated Hermes have signed up to install the platform.
The pace of uptake indicates growing demand for technological solutions
- to improve operational efficiency to mitigate against growing energy costs,
- to enable ESG targets to be met,
- and to facilitate a collaborative approach between landlords and occupiers in managing workplaces.
The system currently has a pipeline of install instructions that will see it in place at more than 30 premises by the end of 2022.
IBOS, developed with Workman’s technology partner Bubll Automation, uses the latest IoT technology to automate and optimise a building’s systems to drive ESG performance.
Workman expands its Building Technology team to support continued growth of IBOS platform
In light of existing and anticipated future demand, Workman has made a further strategic appointment to its Building Technology team, hiring Ross Ackland as an Associate, working alongside James Hallworth who was promoted to Partner and Head of Building Technology in May 2022.
Ross re-joins the firm, having previously been part of Workman’s Facilities Management team for three years. With nearly 10 years’ facilities management experience, Ross will play a crucial role in the rapid roll-out of IBOS, working with onsite and management teams on its technical integration with existing building systems.
James Hallworth, Partner, Head of Building Technology, says: “At a time when energy efficiency, indoor air quality and Net Zero carbon reduction targets are priorities for both investors and occupiers, technology is a critical part of the solution.
