Savills appoints head of ESG research

Savills has continued its expansion with the appointment of Dr Kat Martindale as head of ESG research and director within Savills Earth division, based at the firm’s London head office in Margaret Street.

Kat has more than 20 years’ international experience as a researcher, consultant and lecturer, working across several built environment sectors in private practice, academia, government and the third sector, in the UK, US, Canada and Australia.

Having originally trained as an architect and then urban designer before moving into research, she specialises in multi-disciplinary working models and research informed design, working in housing, social and environmental sustainability, post-occupancy evaluation, master planning, planning policy, community engagement and events.

Kat has previously held senior level research industry based posts including head of research and innovation at the Royal Institute of British Architects and research director at BVN, and has sat on industry bodies both in the UK and overseas.

She has spoken at professional and academic conferences around the world and worked at eleven universities including Cambridge, Sydney, Toronto Metropolitan and Nottingham. Her writing has been published in academic journals, architecture industry publications and the print media, and she has authored policy reports and most recently Research for Architectural Practice.

Joining Savills, Kat will be working alongside the Savills Earth division of energy and sustainability consultants and in collaboration with existing research teams across Savills to identify the ESG trends, predictions and opportunities and challenges within the property industry to help evidence, inform and drive the ESG agenda.
