More and more businesses are starting to take their net zero responsibilities seriously, recognising that we can remain on track for the Paris Agreement if we ALL act now.
The Paris Agreement is a legally binding international treaty on climate change. It was adopted by 196 Parties at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) on 12 December 2015. It entered into force on 4 November 2016.
Its overarching goal is to hold “the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels” and pursue efforts “to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.” To achieve this, greenhouse gas emissions must peak before 2025 at the latest and decline 43% by 2030.
The Paris Agreement works on a five-year cycle of increasingly ambitious climate action — or, ratcheting up — carried out by countries. Since 2020, countries have been submitting their national climate action plans, known as nationally determined contributions (NDCs). Each successive NDC is meant to reflect an increasingly higher degree of ambition compared to the previous version.
2023 has seen a significant increase in businesses taking action. The last quarter of 2023 alone saw Neutral Carbon Zone start the journey with many new clients:

All these businesses have made a commitment to reducing their carbon footprint and the team at Neutral Carbon Zone (NCZ) look forward to helping them to reach the end of their journey, when they can proudly announce that they are net zero.
Whilst there is widespread acknowledgement that the journey to net zero is hugely beneficial for the planet – and for business – it isn’t always easy knowing how to get started. At NCZ, we help each business to establish a starting point, with realistic, achievable goals to work towards. This allows the full carbon footprint to be fully understood and assessed, as well as providing a great reference point to demonstrate progression.
From there onwards, we provide guidance and support every step of the way, with all carbon footprint data captured in our online portal. Having a clear pathway to becoming carbon neutral, through independent verification aligned with industry best practices, gives businesses the tools and the confidence to reach a successful conclusion.
