Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has completed a technically complex project to enhance the interior of John Lewis’ flagship store in Oxford Street, London.
John Lewis is a British brand of high-end department stores operating throughout the United Kingdom, with concessions also located in Ireland. From 1925 to 2022, the chain had a policy that it would always at least match a lower price offered by a national high street competitor; this pledge was known by the name “Never Knowingly Undersold”.
Engineers from PTSG Building Access Specialists Ltd recently completed a project to completely repaint the internal escalators in John Lewis’ famous Oxford Street store. A five-man team of rope access engineers installed rope rigging from the internal roof structure, which allowed them to access all areas of the escalators.
PTSG’s engineers set up encapsulation areas to allow the scaling paintwork to be removed without impacting on any of the store’s items for sale. The escalators were successfully prepared and painted to both protect and enhance them aesthetically, providing an improved experience for shoppers and staff alike.
This project required immense attention to detail to avoid any interruption to business within the store. Work was carried out over a 20-nightshift period, enabling PTSG’s engineers to bring the project to completion within the agreed timescale, delivering an outstanding quality of workmanship, which was commended by the client.
