The Apartment Group purchases Raven Hall Hotel

The Apartment Group has purchased the Raven Hall Hotel off a guide price of £4.35 million in a deal arranged by Colliers’ specialist Hotels team.

The 62-bedroom hotel, which looks out across the North Sea including Robin Hood’s Bay and back towards the Yorkshire Dales National Park, was under the previous ownership for 20 years. The property is a mix of original stone manor house, with extensions to create restaurant and public bar spaces as well as the conversion of the former barn to house the main 120-cover function room. The complex also boasts a heated swimming pool and sauna, which have been recently refurbished, as well as a games room.

The North East-based hospitality group took over the hotel which sits in around 90 acres of grounds and includes a nine-hole golf course in April.

Stuart Bailey, CEO of the Apartment Group said: “We’re thrilled to be adding the Raven Hall Hotel into our portfolio of hospitality businesses, it’s a great venue with a strong reputation in the area which we’re hoping to continue to build. We have plans to bring the hotel into our brand and upgrade the hotel to include the event spaces and chapel and maximise the various facilities already available in this beautiful location. We will be working with the local community and looking to preserve heritage features of the hall and the grounds, while also ensuring we provide high quality accommodation and facilities to our guests.”

He said: “Raven Hall Hotel is a unique property that’s been sensitively extended over the years to create an all-round leisure offering for guests. It’s a business that is attractive to various clients, those looking to unwind in a stunning location or to explore the Dales and popular seaside locations of Scarborough and Whitby, as well as being a hub for guests looking to celebrate special occasions.

“There was strong interest in the property from a wide range of local and national operators and we’re pleased to see that a local firm are adding it to their bespoke portfolio of hospitality businesses.”
