Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to deliver specialist fire solutions at Fusion at Brent Cross Town.
Fusion at Brent Cross Town will be Fusion’s first development in London. The student accommodation brand creates positive spaces to inspire its student residents and has already successfully launched nine schemes across the UK offering over 3,500 Beds. The new development will provide 662 private rooms in a design-led, high-quality environment which offers students a home that enriches and enhances their university experience. Fusion At Brent Cross Town intends to welcome student residents to their new homes in time for the 2024/2025 academic year.
Brent Cross Town is the neighbourhood at the heart of the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme. The vision is to become a park town for future London. At its heart, will be a focus on sport, play, health and well-being. The new destination will include residential, pedestrian-friendly streets and squares with local shops and restaurants. The community will be supported by first-class public transport infrastructure, a new and improved network of walking and cycle routes and a series of new parks and other amenities.
In this contract, engineers from PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd will install wet risers at the new student development. Risers are vertical water mains fitted into staircase enclosures or similar, with outlet valves on each floor to enable the fire brigade to connect to the water supply at ground level. They consist of a vertical pipe with an inlet at ground level on an outside face of the building and outlets (known as landing valves) fitted in cabinets at each floor level, allowing fire and rescue service personnel to pressurise the main from their appliances. Rising mains in buildings can be either filled with water (wet riser) or left dry (dry riser). The current standard for the installation and maintenance of dry riser systems is BS9990 2015.
