Leading independent engineering and services business NG Bailey has announced that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved its long-term science-based emissions reduction target to achieve net zero emissions.

What does this mean for NG Bailey?
- They have had their target to achieve net zero by 2045 for our scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions validated by the SBTi
- This new target is in addition to thier existing science-based near-term targets and Race to Zero commitment
This means they will reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2045 from a 2018/19 base year. Plus, they commit to reducing absolute scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 90% also by 2045.
Currently, 83% of the company’s total emissions are from the products and services they purchase. They are working with their supply chain partners to identify and deliver the necessary carbon reductions. Their long-term strategic ambitions are set out in their Net Positive strategy.
Work towards their Net Zero targets is supported by their existing near-term targets:
- They commit to reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2031
- And that 75% of their suppliers, by spend, covering purchased goods and services and capital goods, will have science-based targets by FY2027.
