Premier Technical Services Group (PTSG) has completed inspection and testing works on the lightning protection system at the O2 Academy Brixton, one of London’s best-known live music venues.
Engineers from PTSG Electrical Services undertook a full inspection of the site’s lightning protection infrastructure to confirm it remains compliant with current safety standards and continues to provide effective protection for the building, staff and visitors.
Originally opened as a cinema in 1929, the landmark building has evolved over the decades, operating as a discotheque in the 1970s before reopening as a concert venue in 1983. Today, the O2 Academy Brixton is owned by Academy Music Group and is widely recognised as a leading performance venue in the capital, hosting major UK and international artists.
The inspection forms part of PTSG’s ongoing support for heritage and high-profile venues, providing specialist electrical testing and lightning protection services to help clients manage risk, maintain compliance and safeguard critical assets.
Under BS EN 62305 and the Electricity at Work Act 1989, lightning protection systems must be professionally tested at least annually to ensure they can safely dissipate a lightning strike to earth. PTSG’s electrical engineers have extensive experience delivering these services across a wide range of sectors, helping organisations meet their statutory obligations while maintaining the safety and resilience of their buildings.
