Andy Shenstone stated his intention to continue the charityโs mission for social good as he took up the post of NEBOSH Chief Executive.
โNEBOSHโs social and charitable purpose is clear: to make the world a healthier and safer place through education. Iโm dedicated to continuing the phenomenal work that the organisation does. Just this financial year, more than 100,000 people from over 170 countries have taken a NEBOSH qualification and Iโm determined that our impact will continue to grow, reaching new regions, countries and industries with the learning and knowledge they need to keep people and communities safe.
โI want to nurture our existing culture of collaboration, partnering with organisations who share our vision. By working together, we will further increase the opportunities and quality of learning available in occupational health and safety.โ
UKGBC has responded to the report which outlines how a liveable future is possible if Governments show the critical will to finance, incentivise, activate and mainstream solutions.
The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) today published the final part of its Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) on global climate change
In the report, the IPCC outlines how a liveable future is possible if Governments show the critical will to finance, incentivise, activate and mainstream solutions.
Simon McWhirter, Deputy Chief Executive said: โThis report is the final call for governments across the world, reinforcing again that the pace and scale of what has been done so far, and current plans, are totally insufficient to tackle the climate crisis. Quite simply, we are walking when we should be sprinting.โ
New figures published by the British Security Industry Association (BSIA), which represents the UKโs private security firms, indicate that the sector is booming, with businesses recruiting an estimated 65,000 new security specialists over the last six months as demand for their services grows.
A survey of BSIA members suggests security businesses have increased the size of their workforces by almost a fifth (16 per cent) since July 2022, as the industry gets to grips with new legislation and prepares for the return of major events and festivals in 2023.
A major national recruitment initiative, โPeople, Property, Places: Professionally Protectedโ, launched by the BSIA in 2022 focused on improving perceptions of a career in the industry and raising awareness of the crucial work security officers do.
Chief executive Mike Reddington said: โAs an industry body weโre working hard to improve the perception of the security industry and attract young people and women by highlighting the incredible role security officers play in keeping people and property safe and protected. Thereโs a lot more to the job than wearing a hi-vis vest.โ
