Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services has secured the full £24.7m mechanical, electrical and public health package on the iconic Grade II listed Adelaide House.
The project, for main contractor Galliford Try, is situated in a prominent riverside location next to London Bridge. The thirteen storey (ground to level 9 and three basement levels) 129,000 sq ft office building is being redeveloped through a heritage led approach to modernise and compliment the original structure of the building, first built and completed in 1925. At the time it was London’s tallest office block and one of the first buildings to employ the steel frame technique and have central ventilation and telephone / electric connections on every floor.
The refurbishment works will provide a CAT A office fit out with a ground floor reception and extensive roof terrace with fantastic views across the Thames. The building will be BREEAM Excellent and feature SMART services, allowing the landlord and future tenants to optimise the services as required.
