Pendrich Height Services, part of Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG), is back on site at the British Steel plant in Scunthorpe to dismantle a redundant chimney stack.
The team is working on the removal of the 76-metre west chimney, which is lined with gunite (dry concrete). Using a bespoke access platform, Pendrich specialists are dismantling the structure in carefully controlled sections. To date, around a quarter of the stack has already been taken down.
Pendrich has a long-standing relationship with the Scunthorpe site, having delivered steeplejack and rope access services there on several occasions in recent years. Its expertise made it the natural choice for this latest high-level project.
Founded as a traditional steeplejack business, Pendrich has grown into a leader in high-level maintenance, working worldwide on structures including chimney stacks, cooling towers and flare stacks.
The company now operates as part of PTSG Building Access Specialist Ltd, which delivers a full range of specialist maintenance and cleaning services for buildings and structures across the built environment.
