PTSG Appointed to Carry Out Electrical Compliance Works at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary

Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has secured a contract to deliver specialist electrical compliance services at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, supporting the continued safe operation of one of West Yorkshire’s key NHS facilities.

The works will be delivered by Guardian, PTSG’s electrical compliance and testing specialist, and will focus on remedial activity to ensure the hospital’s fixed wiring systems remain safe, compliant and fully aligned with statutory requirements.

Huddersfield Royal Infirmary forms part of the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust and provides a wide range of general, emergency and specialist services to the local community. The hospital has seen significant recent investment, including the opening of a new Emergency Department in May 2024. The department, designed at twice the size of the former trauma unit, features expanded resuscitation and major injuries facilities and was recognised as both Best New Build and overall winner at the 2024 Huddersfield Civic Society Design Awards.

Under the contract, Guardian’s engineers will undertake a programme of remedial works designed to maintain the integrity and safety of the hospital’s electrical infrastructure. A key element of the service will be the provision of clear, auditable documentation, ensuring duty managers have access to a robust version history to support ongoing compliance management.

Electrical safety in healthcare environments is critical, with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 placing absolute duties on employers and those in control of premises to prevent electrical danger. Guardian’s extensive experience in delivering periodic inspection and testing programmes across complex, high-risk environments positions the business to provide a tailored service that reflects the operational demands of live healthcare settings.

The appointment further strengthens PTSG’s presence within the healthcare sector and reflects the Group’s broader role in supporting critical infrastructure through specialist building compliance services.
