Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has completed a programme of specialist electrical works at Project Borealis, a major £400 million expansion project for Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies in Billingham, Teesside.
Project Borealis is a large-scale development focused on the creation of advanced biotechnology manufacturing facilities, supporting the production of vaccines, gene therapies and microbial-based medicines. The scheme involves highly complex engineering and construction activity and forms part of a multi-phase expansion of Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies’ UK operations.
Engineers from PTSG Electrical Services were appointed to deliver the installation and earthing of a lightning protection system at the Stockton-on-Tees site, helping to safeguard critical infrastructure and ensure compliance within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
The works were completed on what PTSG described as a technically demanding project, requiring careful coordination and adherence to strict safety and quality standards. Lightning protection and earthing systems play a vital role in protecting sensitive equipment, maintaining operational continuity and managing risk in facilities where uninterrupted performance is essential.
PTSG Electrical Services is one of five specialist business divisions within the Group and delivers a range of electrical compliance and safety services across the UK. In addition to lightning protection and earthing, its engineers provide fixed wire testing (EICR), portable appliance testing (PAT) and electric vehicle charging infrastructure services.
The Project Borealis scheme highlights the role specialist contractors play in supporting complex, high-value developments within the life sciences and advanced manufacturing sectors, where compliance, resilience and technical expertise are critical to successful delivery.
