VINCI Facilities will officially commence its contract to provide Facilities Management (FM) services to the Ministry of Defence Built Estate across London and the South East of England.
The contract was procured by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), an operating arm of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in the United Kingdom responsible for the military’s built and rural estate.
The South East FDIS contract, awarded to VINCI Facilities in June 2021, is for an initial seven-year term, with three additional performance related option years. It is worth up to £1.1bn across seven years, comprising £423m for the core FM contract and a potential £732m from additional works (Capital Expenditure projects).
The focus for VINCI Facilities is on enhancing the customer experience in all aspects of their engagement with DIO raising expectations of what facilities management can achieve through intelligent preventative maintenance, modernisation of the Defence estate’s buildings, facilities, and infrastructure.
VINCI Facilities will achieve this by applying its expertise in asset and digital management and the targeting of maintenance and Capital Expenditure funding.
The VINCI team expects to sustain employment in the South East for over 800 people, employed either directly or through its supply chain partners. A new dedicated contract centre, including the Helpdesk, is based in Camberley, Surrey.
This is the last of four regional hard FM contracts to go-live, with VINCI Facilities managing the maintenance of over 6,200 buildings and infrastructure assets at 59 military sites in London and the South East.
Tony Raikes, Managing Director of VINCI Facilities said: “I am proud that VINCI Facilities will play a significant role in transforming the MOD’s approach to maintaining the Defence estate in London and the South East. In collaboration with DIO, this is an opportunity for us to replicate a capability we have demonstrated with many public and private sector customers across the UK. We will use our expertise, knowledge, and passion to help improve the MOD’s buildings and infrastructure, for the benefit of our those who work with, or serve in our Armed Forces.”
Tony added: “During the mobilisation phase of the contract our team has worked very closely with our colleagues at DIO, and I am hugely confident our close collaboration and partnership will continue to grow during the lifetime of the contract.”
DIO’s Chief Operating Officer David Brewer said: “DIO is committed to delivering the best service it can to our Armed Forces customers, and the new FDIS contract that comes into service in the South East today, offers the opportunity to truly transform and improve the hard facilities maintenance of 59 sites in this region. This is an incredibly important milestone for the FDIS programme marking the final FDIS Built Estate contract coming into force and thank you to everyone that has worked hard across DIO and our suppliers to mobilise the Built Estate contracts.
“We look forward to working with VINCI Facilities to ensure that we deliver services in the South East region that fully meet the requirements of our Service Personnel.”
