Equans retains is long-term FM partnership with The National Archives

Equans, has secured its longstanding relationship with The National Archives, through a new contract, covering the delivery of total facilities management services, as well as supporting with the organisation’s carbon reduction goals.

Equans has worked with The National Archives since 2008 and this latest contract will span an additional seven years of service, plus the option for a further three; bringing the successful partnership close to 25 years.

As well as core FM services including mechanical and electrical services, planned and reactive maintenance, cleaning, portering and mailroom; the new contract term will see Equans support with economic, social and environmental activity to drive forward the sustainability agenda at The National Archives.

This includes digitisation of the buildings and smart building systems, asset replacement, lifecycle works and optimising maintenance regimes to maximise energy performance and building efficiency – supporting decarbonisation. Equans has already introduced a range of smart and digital solutions to enhance operational efficiency, including a well-established robotic cleaning system that helps maintain high performance standards.

Equans currently employees 20 people at the Richmond base, including graduates, trainees and apprentices, with plans to expand the number of these roles over the latest contract term.

The new contract, which will commence on 1st September 2025 will continue to be delivered through a collaborative model underpinned by shared performance goals, with a focus on service excellence, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement through digital transformation.
